Rebecca's Retirement Fund

Rebecca Bishop, my mother, has been a school teacher in Mississippi since January 1982. After receiving a letter in March stating her current status, she diligently began planning towards retirement, with the prompt that she was clear to end her long life's work in December. 

Mom was good to go. She signed her contract for another half year. In January, with enough credit to retire from teaching at Mississippi public schools, she is planning on purchasing a house in Georgia to begin the next chapter in her life.

Upon the return of her retirement submission packet, Mom was shocked to find out that she is not going to have full credit. After the initial letter, the plans made, and the home waiting to be purchased, the state has now informed her that there are errors on her account. Unless Mom can pull the funds together, she'll be forced to work additional time. All due to maternity leave incorrectly calculated. The email sent from the state informed that even though there were errors on the account, it was audited to correct these faults at request for retirement. 

I'm asking for a little help for Mom towards her retirement goal. I want my mama to end her career in peace and as planned.

She would also like to use this platform to make women employed by the state of Mississippi aware of the way maternity leave is handled. Because she took two maternity leaves, she is being punished.

Mom's last job will be teaching a self contained high school special education class. She will have taught in the special education department for thirteen years,
