Birds for the Elderly
Hi! My name is Joie Brannon and I’m a volunteer at the Christian Community Home in Osceola. I'm also a member of the Forest View 4-H Club. As a 4-H member I am active in animal projects and I own and raise my own flock of homing pigeons.
Knowing how much joy my own birds bring me I wanted to find a way to share that joy with the elderly that I volunteer for at the community home! My mom and I approached the administrator at the Christian Community Home and we were given permission to set up one or more aviaries in their facility.
I'm super exited about starting this project and am hoping to get some help with the funding! I've been pricing bird aviaries and they cost between $100 to $500, depending on the size and quality. I want to fill the aviaries with cheerful little finches, which cost $20 each. I’m hoping to start with at least six birds, maybe more! There are also costs for food, supplies and decorations to cover. My campaign goal of $1500 would be enough to cover the cost of two adequately stocked aviaries. I'm reaching out to all my friends, family and other 4-H members to ask for help with this exciting project! If you can help financially, thank you so much in advance!! If not financially, please keep my efforts in you prayers!
Thanks for reading this! Hope to hear from you soon!
Wow! I'm amazed! Thank you everyone who gave a donation so far! I've already raised $530! I'm starting to look at a variety of cute finches and trying to pick the most colorful, but cost effective ones. Can't wait 'till the week after Easter when I plan to introduce the birds to the residents at the nursing home! Thanks everyone!
