Hi! My name is Elizabeth Ussery, and I'm an elected delegate pledged to Bernie Sanders. I'm also a founder of Burghers for Bernie, a grassroots Progressive group located here in Pittsburgh, PA. In addition, I'm a co-chair for PA Labor for Bernie.
Today I'm here to ask for help to fund my trip to the Democratic National Convention in July so I can cast YOUR vote for Bernie! As a show of gratitude, I have some cool rewards to offer you in return (see below)!
I first heard Bernie speak during his historic filibuster of the extension of the Bush-era tax cuts. Everything he said hit home for me in a way that no other political speech ever has (not in my lifetime, anyway). I remember sitting there amazed because this guy got it, and I vowed then and there to fight for him should he ever run for President.
I was selected by the Sanders campaign to be a delegate because of my hard work as a grassroots organizer, and though the job hasn't always been easy it's always been a labor of love. This is a tremendous honor, and it's one that I am really touched and thrilled to have. I promise to represent you well and make you proud!
Due to the security perimeter around the convention, the Sanders Campaign has made it mandatory that all delegates stay in their state's designated hotel. This way, we're sure to be able to get to the votes on time. Unfortunately, that also raises the cost considerably.
This is why I am asking to raise $2100:
Hotel for the convention is $2100 (hoping to get a roommate to split the cost but there is an odd number going from my area)
+ $140 for parking (I'm fortunate enough to be able to drive to save money).
+ $ 400 for gas and food (which is not included)
+ I also have to account for the 5% GoFundMe fee and 2.9% WePay fee.
All told, this trip will cost over $3000. If I can just get the cost of the room paid for, it will ease the burden tremendously! I have some cool things to offer from my collection of extremely rare Bernie swag. Feel free to message me with any questions!
