Beth's Dental Elective in Nepal

I'm a 4th year dental student at Bristol University. In July 2019, I will be travelling to Kathmandu in Nepal, while in Nepal I will be working for 2 weeks in a local hospital completing dental treatment and gaining experience of dentistry in another country.
I have decided to use a company called Work the World to carry out my elective. Work the World is an organisation that crafts healthcare electives for students. This trip will allow me to gain hands on experience in a dental setting that is very different to Bristol Dental Hospital. This trip will allow me to learn how to work in a low-resource healthcare environment, gaining skills I can use in my future career.
I am completing this elective as part of my dental degree in Bristol, I chose to do this abroad as I want to push the limits of my comfort zone and learn new skills that wouldn't be possible in England. I am also passionate about alleviating discomfort in patients, and doing this in a hospital where I can improve the quality of life for many people.
The total I have aimed to raise goes towards my accommodation while in Nepal as well as funding the local hospitals and donating essential equipment.
During the next year I will be completing fundraising events including an Open Garden to the public, bake sales and 'Dry January', as well as additional joint events with my travel companion Angela! If you fancy giving a helping hand, any donation would be sincerely appreciated by myself and the people it helps!
