The funds raised will be used to communicate via a print and social media campaign to the residents in the new Gateway ward. This comprises of St Kilda Road, South Melbourne, Fishermans Bend, Port Melbourne, Garden City, Beacon Cove.
I am passionate and committed to serving my community as best I can. I have a strong track record and am willing to continue to serve the public. I am collaborative and work with the community on issues.
In 2012, I campaigned on issues which have now been achieved and completed - examples are :-
~Improve the perception of Port Melbourne - in a St Kilda centric Council.
~Two new primary schools in our area - along with purchase of a new community park, community facilities & sporting facilities in the Ferrars St Primary School. constant & sustained advocacy.
~Improved places for youth to play.
~Improved Graham St skate park and surrounding area. ~Numerous playground upgrades and new pocket parks.
~Strong and consistent advocacy to the Port of Melbourne, Webb Dock to ensure local residents are not impacted by Port changes.
~Achieved further amenity improvements along Todd Road.
~Seniors - support for Emerald Hill Aged Care facility. Better walkability and rest places.
~This superior home is now built and caters for additional 140 aged residents. I am a CASPA Care board member.
~1-7 Waterfront Place - worked hard to bring community along and reduced height of building, with no beach and promenade overshadowing.
~Tourism - raised the profile of Melbourne to the Cruise ship operators.
~Fishermans Bend - whole of Council focus to improve planned social infrastructure, greater advocacy and strong planning to ensure that this area is liveable, and caters for all community needs.
~More permeable footpaths and nature strips, so the rain can soak into the ground and not just run off into Port Phillip Bay. We need storm water drains that will adequately trap litter before it ends up in our beautiful Bay.
~Increased Childcare and Kindergarten Places
~Beacon Cove - transferred to Port Phillip Council, now has consistent services.
~Garden City - improvement of Parks, Centre Ave Shops, Fishermans Bend Community Hall upgrade.
~Trees - More planted and more greenery in streets
~Children's Centre - opened Bubup Womindjeka Children's Centre. I am also on the board.
~Delivered an increase in playgroups, kindergarten places and childcare places across our city.
~Supported Port Melbourne netball club and delivered new budget for resurfacing of netball courts
