We are thrilled to announce the inaugural season of the Berlin Song Festival.
Between April 13-16, 2017 the festival in collaboration with Artistic Advisory Board –
Gidon Saks (Deutsche Oper Berlin, Bolshoi Theatre, Royal Danish Theatre)
Caroline Dowdle (Royal Opera House, Samling Foundation, Verbier Festival)
– will present six concerts by a fantastic group of artists in an exciting line-up of song repertoire.
In parallel with the main events, we are delighted to collaborate with The Opera Stage in bringing a three-day masterclass for nine promising up-and-coming artists led by Caroline Dowdle.
This being the first year of what we hope will be an annual festival, we are looking for the generous support of donors to get us started.
Our fundraising efforts will fund the rental of a Steinway Baby Grand piano and to pay our fantastic artists a fee worthy of their work and artistry.
This project is very exciting for us and for the city of Berlin! As one of the largest European cultural hubs it is extremely important art song be a prominant part of the cultural make-up of the city. Art song is an intimate combination of voice and piano with the singular goal of communicating poetry through music.
By supporting the Berlin Song Festival inaugural year, you ensure not only the success of its inaugural year but also its consequent seasons.
