For the first time in our 112 year history, our annual Festa may be in jeopardy! The City of Benicia is requiring us to install kitchen hoods and neccesary venting. The entire project could cost well over $25,000. We want to continue to share with the community our celebration of Portuguese culture and traditions. Our festa, which will be held on Sunday, July 28th, is filled with tradition that traces back to Portugal centuries ago, and our parade has participants from all over Northern California. We also provide free meals to nearly a 1,000 people on that day. The Benicia Holy Ghost Society has been a part of the Benicia community for 112 years and without your support, our kitchen will not be in service for the festa, forcing us to find an alternative cooking space. The Benicia Holy Ghost is a non-profit organization and depends on the generous donations from our local community.
