At a normal ultrasound Monday morning (5/21) they said Courtney's cervix was only measuring at .7 cm in Hays instead of being 3 or 4cm and that's when things started to change and she was admitted to Wesley Medical Center because the twins wanted to come early. She recieve one round of steroids at Haysmed and got another one the next day at Wesley for the babies lungs to develop quickly. Courtney also recieve a magnesium drip Monday night for 12 hours to keep everything stable and lessen early labor. Everything decided to settle down and was discharged from the hospital the following Friday (5/25). Instructions were to stay close to Wichita, so arrangements were made for Courtney to stay at the Ronald McDonald House.
The following Thursday (5/31) around 7:00p.m. contractions started to be more consistent and stronger. Courtney's grandma took her to the hospital to get checked and she was then admitted to the hospital measuring at a dialation of 7. An emergency C-section was completed at 29 weeks and 4 days with the twins going into the NICU immediately.
Kacie and Karson were born weighing 3lbs 4oz and 2lbs 6oz respectively. Kacie has recently been discharged as of July 4th and with the family being extremely excited, financial burden has increased. Trying to spend as much time with Karson in Wichita, Courtney makes more trips back and forth for Kacies weight checks and doctor appointments.
The family is seeking financial assistance with travel, meal and childcare expenses for the younger kids while one twin was released and the other twin is still admitted.
