Beci Mac Fights Back

Cancer is the ultimate personal natural disaster, it is classed as catastrophic for all it touches and leaves behind emotional devastation.

Bec is a young single mum, with two beautiful children aged 9 and 12.

Anyone looking at Bec would never guess that in the past nine years she has undergone countless medical procedures starting with thyroid cancer in 2007 to now breast cancer in 2016.

Bec has been through so much enduring numerous operations and procedures to remove  ¾ of her large intestine, lengths of her colon, bone scans, total thyroid removal plus the 8cm cancer tumorr and chest scans,

In April 2016,  the week before the Anzac long weekend,  Bec had just returned from a family trip up the coast, where her brother had lead a surf burial/memorial 1 year on, for their beloved father. Feeling crappy, Bec saw the local GP, which in itself is not usual however, Bec discussed that she felt she was starting menopause at 41 years of age.

Tests were done, and on the Friday of the same week just before Anzac long weekend, the GP called at 9.30pm and said ‘I'm sorry, you have breast cancer’.

The initial breast lump was small and following discussions with the surgeon we believed that partial removal of the breast tissue including the lump and surrounds would be the best option, followed by target radiation and  hormone type drugs.

Four weeks after the removal of the initial lump,  Bec still didn't feel the best.  A further scan discoverd another lump within the same breast.  Two weeks later Bec was back in hosptial for a double mastectomy and reconstruction . A further five separate cancer tumors were discovered.

When we discussed doing ‘go fund me’ with Bec, she was very reluctant as she feels there are always people who are in worse positions. But after a stern talking too from her best friend Miss Kelly, who said ‘suck it up, you would already be doing this or something else if it was someone else, please let us help you. We need to, and we want to feel like we are doing something worthwhile to help support you and the kids, for the future’.

Bec replied with, ‘ I'm still uncomfortable about it, but I understand your need to help and I appreciate it, love you’

Bec's intial intravenous treatment is for 12 months with further ongoing medical treatment for the next 5 years.
All money raised will be used to pay for medical bills and general living expenses.  Any left over money will be used to help celebrate the end of Bec's cancer treatment with her two beautiful children who have been with her every step of the way.
