Beards for brothers 2016:
The Officers from Akron Borough, Columbia Borough, East Hempfield Township, Millersville University, New Holland Borough, Strasburg Borough, West Hempfield Township, Southern Regional and the West Lampeter Township Police Departments will be participating in a No-Shave November campaign to help raise awareness for Cancer. This is the third year that Officers have been able to disregard their departments’ facial hair policies and will be allowed to grow beards through the month of November.
Each year Officers select someone from the community who is currently battling Cancer. This year the Beards for Brothers campaign will be donating all money raised to Rebekah Gerace. Rebekah is the 15 year old daughter of Lancaster City Police Sergeant Michael Gerace. Rebekah was diagnosed with a Chordoma, a type of cancer that attaches to the bones in the skull. Rebekah had surgery in June of 2016 and is currently in treatment, undergoing radiation for the remainder of the Chordoma, at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. Please consider donating and helping Rebekah fight.
