The Isabel Baker Foundation

Isabel was diagnosed at 3 weeks old with Infantile Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia.

She underwent round after round of chemotherapy treatment on The Piam Brown Ward in Southampton General Hospital until February when she was due to go to Bristol Childrens Hospital for a bone marrow transplant.

At this point, Isabel relapsed.

She then underwent another course of treatment for relapsed ALL but the cancer continued to progess through it.

Without any other chemotherapy options availble, Isabels parents took her to Sheffield Childrens Hospital for a month where she underwent a clinical trial.

This also failed to work and Isabel started palliative treatment in May 2015

Isabel passed away in Gullys Place in Poole Hospital on August 12th 2015 aged 1 year old with both of her parents by her side.

The main reason this charity was set up is to be able to financially support bereaved parents in the months after their child passes away. At the moment the government provides no support for bereaved parents and many face having to return to work 8 weeks after their childs death

The second service we would like to achieve as a charity is to support oncology parents who face long stays in hospital with their child with food parcels should they need them
