Backing Ballycanew

Donation protected
We're backing Ballycanew and need your support to raise €25K!

Can you spare €5 to support this cause.

The money will be used to fund the development of a community resource centre and local activities providing a much needed space for the community to come together and build on our already great village and community.

Ballycanew’s close proximity to Dublin and easy access to the M11 motorway has seen the population of the village increase by over 50% with no corresponding improvement in facilities to allow the local community to come together, socialize, train, or work on community projects.

Ballycanew is currently classed as the 3rd most disadvantaged area in Wexford and as a community, we are determined to find our way out from this and are asking for your help. The resource centre will be a stepping stone in this process by providing community facilities for training courses, meeting/ collaboration spaces for clubs and small businesses, hot desks for telecommuters, indoor sport facilities and many different social activities.

Please support us and help us fulfil the dream of a vibrant self sustaining community!!

What is the money being used for?
We are looking to raise €25,000 to help fund the following projects:
Improved insulation of the building
Flooring for the sport and recreational area of the facility
Conversion of loft space into hot desk area

If we can reach our fundraising target, the association will be able to secure an additional €85,000 in grant funding to cover the total cost of the project.

Who is Ballycanew/ Ballyoughter Development Association?
The Development association was started just over 5 years ago with the goal of building much needed facilities in the Ballycanew/Ballyoughter area to help improve the quality of life in local area.

Shortly after its commencement, the association conducted a survey of the residents and identified a number of key projects including a community centre. During the ensuing period, the Association was actively fundraising, researching potential sites for a community center and working with Wexford County Council to access grants and other funding for the community.

In late 2018, a site was identified and a lease obtained on an existing building to convert it to a community resource centre. At the start of 2019, the lease was signed, planning permission obtained to change the usage of the building and building works commenced to make the building accessible to the public.

We are now starting Phase 2 which should allow the association to open all areas of the building and realize the full potential the building has to offer.
