Knowledge is power. Sometimes all it takes is the simple desire to acquire it, but the problem with knowledge is that many obstacles often stand in the way of innocent school-aged children achieving it. Knowledge is intangible and cannot magically be transferred into someone’s brain like downloading data on a computer and unfortunately, knowledge does not come without a price.
According to the Cobb County School District (CCSD), “As the second largest school system in Georgia, the Cobb County School District is responsible for educating more than 111,000 students in a diverse, constantly changing suburban environment.” (Referenced: http://www.cobbk12.org/aboutccsd/ ) Statistically, CCSD caters to a staggering percentage (45.0%) of students who qualify for the free or reduced lunch program. Therefore, there is evidence to the fact that many families residing in this school district struggle to not only to provide food and clothing for their children, but also back-to-school supplies that are necessary to achieve a successful education.
Based upon this affirmation, we decided to help this district by bringing our fundraising efforts to the plate and provide back-to-school book bags for students throughout Cobb County, Georgia. It is our sincere hope to raise $6,000 and deliver school supplies to 200 students for the 2015-2016 school year.
For a modest donation of $25, each student will receive a book bag, 3 ring binder, spiral notebook, pencils, pens, ruler, glue, colored pencils, 2 folders, markers and scissors, and a pack of lined paper.
Why should you donate? In addition to being rewarded with a priceless smile upon a child’s face, your donation will help ensure that students no longer have to worry about the stigma of their financial status, nor will they be stressed about not possessing the educational supplies required to triumph in the classroom when the 2015-2016 school year begins.
Your donation will enable students to focus on learning. Remember, an investment in knowledge pays the best interest and the education of our future generation is in your hands!
