Baby Jake the fighter

My best friend in the whole wide world has the strongest little boy who has had many struggles in his very short 9 month life. Some of the things he struggling with is Dural sinuses thrombosis, an NG tube, cortical blindness, lingual and labial frenulotomy, seizures, blood clots in the brain, fistulas, AVM, multiple shunts placed, and the list goes on. (You have to be a dr or Jakes mom to know what any of those words mean).
The doctors told his mom that he may not survive her pregnancy, or birth, or even his first surgery and that little boy has defied all odds and continues to fight and he’s now on his 9+ surgery. His mom and dad live in Laporte, Indiana and drive (or sometimes need to take an emergency helicopter) to Riley’s children’s hospital multiple times a week. They live out of their suitcase and in hotels very often or are lucky enough to stay at the Ronald McDonald house. They also have 2 beautiful girls that are so sweet and flexible during these very unpredictable times that also need childcare.
The doctors are very hopeful that they can figure things out but everyday, every surgery gets riskier and riskier. But knowing Jake like I do, I know he’s the strongest most determined little fighter. He gets it from his amazing determined parents.
In in his short 9 months on this earth, Jake has changed many lives. He taught people to be more accepting of people who are different or as his sister calls him “special”. He’s displayed what true strength looks like. And through all his pain and struggles he still has a smile and giggle that can light up a room! He has even started playing with toys and golfing his head up for brief times, and even roll over which the doctors weren’t sure if he’d ever be able to do these things. He’s a true fighter and his parents need our help to continue to fight for him.
