Baby Gaston's Retinoblastoma Treatment

Veronica Espin is the mother of a wonderful baby boy named Gaston. Gaston was diagnosed with type C-D of a cancer known as Retinoblastoma. Gaston lives in Quito, Ecuador. This page has been set up by his family in Canada to raise money for his medical expenses, rehabilitation, etc.
Disclosure: Veronica's cousin, Maria Cristina Ayala, will be withdrawing the funds in her name. Maria will then wire transfer the complete funds to Veronica's bank account.
This is Veronica's story:
While bathing my son on Feb 3rd, I noticed a ring of white light in the pupil of his left eye. That same day I contacted the ophthalmologist who asked me to take a picture with flash so that he could review it. The same specialist sent Gaston in for an ocular echo which confirmed the presence of Retinoblastoma. On Feb 8, Gaston underwent a simple and contrasted magnetic resonance of the brain, neck, face and orbit. The report confirmed the presence of an occupant lesion of modular space with several small calcifications in his left eyeball. On Feb 12, the final examination was performed to determine the type of Retinoblastoma, confirming that it was of type C-D. The treatment suggested by the ophthalmologist is nucleation to avoid compromising other parts of the body.

His parent are fighting together towards providing the best care for their baby boy. Gaston is only 1 year and 7 months old. He is a strong and very cheerful child that loves to play and investigate everything that crosses his path. A medical team has advised Veronica that an intra-arterial chemotherapy approach is their best chance at saving Gaston's eye. Unfortunately, Ecuador does not offer this form of treatment. As of now, we are in communication with a specialist hospital in Argentina who is renown for performing this particular procedure. The treatment and recovery time will be costly. We are trying to raise funds to pay for the procedure, which will cost about $40,000 USD. We have a week left to raise the money. It is estimated that Gaston only has a week left before his condition progresses. If his condition progresses to type D or E, Gaston's only option is direct nucleation which is the removal of the eye. Any contribution that you can give is greatly appreciated by the family. The news breaks all our hearts, but we know Gaston will come out triumphant.

Mi nombre es Verónica Espin soy mamá de Gastón, lo diagnósticaron con un tipo de cáncer llamado retinoblastoma de tipo C-D.
El día domingo 03 de febrero del 2019 mientras mi hijo Gastón tomaba un baño pude notar un aro de luz blanco en la pupila de su ojo izquierdo, ese mismo día contacté a la oftalmopediatra la cual me pidió le tomé una fotografía con flash y lo revisó el día miércoles 06 de febrero, envió un eco ocular el cual confirmó la presencia de retinoblastoma, el día viernes 08 le realizaron una resonancia magnética simple y contrastada de cerebro, cuello, cara y órbita, el informe de la resonancia menciona una lesión ocupante de espacio modular con varias calcificaciones pequeñas en su globo ocular izquierdo.
El día martes 12 de febrero le realizaron el examen fondo de ojo para saber el tipo de retinoblastoma, el mismo que arrojó como resultado un retinoblastoma tipo C-D con su informe adjunto.
El tratamiento que sugiere la oftalmopediatra es la enucleación para evitar que se comprometan otras partes de su cuerpo.
Ahora queremos realizar el procedimiento que más le convenga a mi hijo para salvar su vida y si es posible su ojo, para corroborar la información adjuntó los documentos médicos del proceso que se ha realizado hasta el momento.
Gastón es un niño, fuerte, perseverante, alegre y muy risueño que le encanta jugar e investigar todo loq ue se le cruza en su camino
