Hi my name is Tiana I never ask for help but this time I have too I am wanting to raise money to help my family stay together as something this big ,I need to have them with me as our 10 week old daughter Bailey Paige is having her first open heart surgery she will be in hospital for up to 4 weeks to start off this is the first of many to come she has Ebstein's Anomaly is a relatively rare congenital heart disease that affects the tricuspid valve.The tricuspid valve sits between the right atrium and the right ventricle of the heart and allows the one- way flow of blood from the atrium to the ventricle. Normally the tricuspid valve has three flaps or leaflets.In Ebstein's anomaly,the tricuspid valve may be abnormally attached to the wall of the ventricle.The abnormal formation of the tricuspid valve causes blood to leak backward into the right atrium when the right ventricle contracts.Eventually this causes the right atrium to enlarge and if severe enough,congestive heart failure can result. With excessive backflow,the pressure on the right atrium can become very high.If this pressure remains high,a small hole between the left an right atrium,called the foramen ovale,will remain open in the new born baby.This small hole usually closes after birth.This hole allows oxygen poor "blue" blood to flow from the right atrium across to the left side of the heart and out to the body,bypassing the lungs. This causes oxygen levels in the body to be lower than normal. Ebstein's anomaly may also be associated with other heart defects.These include:Atrial septal defect (ASD)-a hole in the wall between the atrial chambers of the heart Ventricular septal defect (VSD)-a hole in the wall between the ventricular chambers of the heart . It has been the most heart braking thing but she is our little fighter we were told by doctors she should have been a blue baby but she is beating the odds she has had trouble putting on weight but is gaining little by little every day she has a fight on her hands but we no she will come out the other side
