My name is Mildred Garrison-Obi. I am a member of Occupy Our Homes Atlanta(OOHA). OOHA was my main support system during my homlessness. This was caused by unlawful foreclosure and eviction due to systematic corruption. We as Home Defenders have been working with residents to organize housing justice trainings, tenants associations, and build local leaders who have the capacity to organize to win.
Most of the neighborhoods surrounding Turner Field lost more than 60% of their wealth and the mass displacement that followed has created a perfect storm for developers and bad news for longtime residents. We know we need real resources to have a decade's long impact that insures more affordable housing and real economic growth that sees longtime residents benefiting from development of their communities. Our goal is to elevate the OOHA by funding organizer's as community servants. Can we count on you to donate and help us make this happen?
