Before I tell you Mason's story I want to start by telling you about the Matlick family. I have never done a crowdfunding campaign before but there is no way on God's green earth anyone in this family would reach out on their own. That is just how they are. They are never the first to ask, but the first to give. Jeff and Darla Matlick have been through many tough times in life but you would never know it from first meeting them. They are the kind of people you want to be around- the kind of people that make you feel like you are in the company of two truly good souls. I have never wanted more in my life to help spread the word about this amazing family and maybe be able to help in a way they wouldn't have expected.
So now onto the reason behind this campaign. 14 years ago Jeff and Darla welcomed Mason into this world and shortly thereafter watched as their precious newborn underwent his first heart surgery and very long hospital stay. It was a terrifying time for the entire family but Mason being the fighter he is made it through like a champion- with the help of his parents. For the last 14 years, Jeff and Darla continue the overwhelming task of paying those medical bills without saying a word to anyone. They never complain about it, rather are just grateful to have Mason with them. Fast forward to today and they find themselves in a similar predicament. On October 30th, Mason is scheduled to undergo a total reconstruction of his aorta and have a stent placed due to an aneurysm. The pressure of his vessels to his brain are too high from his aortic stenosis. This will again be a trying time but all of Mason's family and friends will rally with him once again. While the family has insurance, a surgery and hospital stay of this magnitude will set them back years again. But.... they never complain. They have no idea this campaign is even being started for them.
For those of you that know the Matlick family it goes without saying that they are so deserving of love and support during this time. I have seen miracles happen on gofundme all around the world and would love to be able to give the Matlick family a miracle of their own.
