OUR STORY
I am trying to help my refugee family (4 siblings and parents) come to the US. My family has been approved but need medical exams, passports, visas and airline tickets from Tajikistan to Almaty, Kazakistan. They have interviews on January 20 to obtain their visas from the US Embassy in Kazakistan. They require the medical exams and innoculations to be completed before they leave Tajikistan.
WHY DO WE NEED THE HELP?
My family members are refugees, without jobs, money, or means of transportation. They are under the protection of UNHCR (United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees) but have no means to obtain the necessary requirements to get to their interviews in Kazakistan. If they do not get to their interview on time, they will be required to wait another year or more to get another interview. They have been refugees in hiding for the past six years.
They have been waiting for an opportunity to be reunited with my twin sister and me. We have not seen them for six years. Please help me make this possible for them to get these interviews.
WHAT DIFFERENCE WILL YOUR HELP MAKE?
My sister and I work low wage jobs and cannot possibly finance their current needs. We are both working to provide housing and food for them in Tajikistan. I fear for the safety of my family members and want desperately to get them to the US. My sister and I will be forever grateful for any help we can receive. At some future time we hope to be able to pass this forward and help other refugees. Thank you so much for your generosity.
