Some of you may or may not know that Bud McKnight experienced a medical event in April of this year which resulted in a trip to the emergency room at Riverview Medical Center. He has been hospitalized since and is currently in Jersey Shore University Medical Center continuing treatment.

Upon arrival to the hospital the staff determined that he was septic however the cause was still unknown. Bud went through multiple exploratory procedures to figure out what is going on. They found a mass in his abdomen that is blocking his bile duct and causing all sorts of mayhem in his body, at this point the composition of the mass is still unknown. Bud will be having a complicated surgery known as the “Whipple Procedure” to remove the mass, hopefully un-obstructing the bile duct. The surgery to this point has been postponed until his blood levels balance out and his body is ready for it. He currently has stints in his kidneys and is undergoing dialysis as stop gap.

If you don’t know Bud here is some history:

Bud married his high school sweet heart, Gayle Beebe 55 years ago. Bud and Gayle raised four children (Stacey, Bryan, Allison and Austen (Buddy),  have twelve grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren.

Bud and Gayle are small business owners, Bud McKnight Drapery Service has been in existing for 55 years. Along with the business Bud has driven buses for various companies over the years including Monmouth County.

Beyond is commitment to his family and business Bud has been a volunteer Fire Fighter for 52 years serving as part of the Lincroft Fire Company part of the Middletown Township Fire Department. Through his 52 years Bud has served the community in various capacities including Treasurer, President, Captain, and most notably Chief of the world’s Largest Volunteer Fire Department in 1985 a distinction few people have.  Along with Bud’s commitment to the community Gayle has served as a member of the Lincroft Fire Company’s Ladies auxiliary for 50 years as well providing support to the Fire Company in various capacities.

Being a small business owner this medical set back has put a strain on the family’s finances. With no definitive time line for recovery at this time, any support you can offer is greatly appreciated.
