Brave the shave

Tax deductible
As some of you may know, a few weeks ago, my eldest sister at only 21 years old, was diagnosed with Chronic Myeloid Leukaemia (Lymphoid Blast Phase). It was a shock to all of us as it was very unexpected.

She was living in Canada as an au-pair for a lovely family who treated her like one of their own. She has stayed very positive and energetic through this hard time, showing the strong person she is. Our mother has travelled over to be with her and they are yet to come home.

Her first round of treatment is being administered in Canada as she was unfit to fly. This treatment entails regular sessions of chemotherapy which has caused her hair to start falling out. For a lot of females around the world, their hair is a big part of who they are and losing it is very distressing. I did not want my sister to go through this hard time on her own and therefore have decided to go through it with her and shave my head.

In the process I would like to raise money for the Macmillan cancer support as they will be on the same ward as Leigh-Ann when she comes back home; they also supported my grandad when he was first diagnosed with cancer, therefore I thought it would be an appropriate charity to raise money for. I will not be shaving my head for a couple weeks yet because I am waiting for my sisters safe return. When the time arises, I will be live on Facebook for everyone to watch the shave - I will reveal the date and time when they are decided.

Any and all donations will be highly appreciated and go straight to the Macmillan charity.

Thank you for taking the time to read our story
