Yoga/Art for Syrian Refugee Kids

Donation protected
Please help fund summer programs for Syrian refugee children in Chicago!   Working with the Syrian Community Network, we realized that among the many opportunities refugee children lack are organized summer activities.  With your help, we will offer two weekly sessions over the summer: a yoga session and an art session.  Our weekly yoga session will serve as a powerful stress-reliever for children whose lives have been upended.  Through this program, we hope to help the children feel centered, calm, and confident.  Our weekly art session will give the children a creative outlet---an opportunity to create something with the power of their imagination. They will leave each art session with a piece of artwork they can take home--a tangible reminder of the positive that they can experience in their lives.
Funds will be used to purhcase:
*yoga mats
*water bottles
*art supplies including clay, carving tools, glaze, paint, paint brushes, markers, pastels, clay wire cutter, clay moulds, storage containers (for works in progress), cleaning supplies, glue, tape, palettes, canvas, yarn, knitting needles.
*funds will also assist in transporting pottery wheels to the refugee center.
*any funds collected that exceed the cost of supplies will go directly to the Syrian Community Network to fund their many programs supporting Syrian refugees.
*Both programs will run from July-August in the Rogers Park neighborhood of Chicago.
*Chicago artists, teachers, and yogis are volunteering their time and talent to lead these programs.
* I live on the North Shore of Chicago and after learning about the Syrian Community Network (a 501 c3) I wanted to support the efforts. I am creating the art and yoga program for the refugee children who are served by the Syrian Community Network.

*I am coordinating the logisitcs of the summer art and yoga experience--from recruiting volunteer teachers, to supporting the volunteers in their classes, and raising money to buy funds for the classes.
