The NAJYRC is the premier equestrian event for young riders in North America.  Team and individual competitions are held in the three Olympic disciplines:  show jumping, dressage, and eventing, and well as the para-Olympic disciplines of para-dressage and the World Equestrian Games disciplines of reining and endurance.

This site supports the USEA Area I Young Rider event team - providing funds for the selected riders, horses, and grooms, to travel to and participate in the NAJYRC.  Each of the team candidates has worked and continues to work incredibly hard to train and prepare for this exciting competition!

For those of you who are not familiar with eventing, it is the "triathalon" of equestrian events.  A single horse-rider pair competes in three phases:  

Dressage (a dance on the flat in a ring with low sides)

Cross-country (an adrenaline-filled gallop across rugged terrain and over fixed obstacles); and

Stadium jumping (a series of leaps over brightly-colored fences in a ring setting)

The combination that has the fewest penalties across the phases wins the event.  The training is rigorous - requiring relentless practice of three very different disciplines over many years.  The events are dangerous; eventers are brave and daring.  The sport requires a deep and close connection between horse and rider; it is simply not possible to conquer the obstacles on course without impeccable trust and communication.

Eventing is a thrill, and Area I is incredibly proud to have such a talented, committed, and enthusiastic set of team candidates to represent us at the NAJYRC.  Please lend your support and GET THEM TO COLORADO!
