Hello and Asalaamu Alaykum -
As the number of terrorist attacks increase throughout Pakistan, so do the number of orphans. Since 2011, Pakistan has suffered from bomb blasts, bus shootings, and takfiri driven suicide operations that have left families broken without breadwinners. The children are left orphaned, with nobody to help with their education, shelter, or basic survival.
According to UNICEF, the Pakistani literacy rate in 2012 was close to sixty percent - about forty percent of students below the age of 20 were illiterate. Through its scholarship opprotunities and school funds, SHARE International seeks to help raise literacy rate, especially in areas where tragedy has unfortunately become a way of life. In 2014, SHARE International raised more than $450,000 in order to help assist Pakistani children with their education. In the same year, SHARE International was able to purchase a plot of land in order to build the Al Mustafa School, and raise funds for tuition, uniforms, and books. We also provide scholarships such as the Ali Akbar Fund and the Hazrat Sakina fund.
At our Excellence Centers, SHARE International offers labor and techinical training courses for those who wish to enter the work force so that they can sustain themselves.
A few of our volunteers will be undertaking a journey of 80 miles in the Iraqi Desert from the Holy City of Najaf to the Holy City of Karbala for 3 days embarking on a spiriual journey known as the Arbaeen Walk.
Their walk will be a walk to support SHARE International's efforts in assisting the oppressed in Pakistan. Every cent donated will be used to help orphans with their school tuition, provide for their families, or fund community projects.
