Save Anita's Home Fund

This fund raising effort is to help Anita, a woman who was preyed upon by people who took advantage of her disability.  Anita is 60 years old and suffers from dementia.  Things took a turn for the worse when the love of her life, since high school (45 years) past away unexpectedly 18 months ago.

People entered her life under the guise of trying to help her; instead, they systematically took her money and moved into her home.  These people attracted drug dealers and destroyed her home.   On occasion, due to fear and being told to leave, she found herself living on the street or with friends that took her in.  During the past year, with very little money, she could not pay her electric and water and it was shut off.  She stopped paying her property tax about the time her partner past away, this could be due to the dementia and not knowing she needed to pay it.

With the help of friends, churches, and some good hearted volunteers, we are helping her get her house back in order and bring back a level of safety to this kind and gentle woman.  This includes replacing her appliances which were trashed or stolen, windows broken, doors torn off their hinges, cleaning up the yard, getting rid of hundreds of bags of trash, and raising money to pay her back taxes and get the utilities turned on.

Dear friends and family we kindly ask for your help.   Anita is a woman that has had her well-being and way of life stolen from her.  Her home, since she was 12 years old, is now at risk of being taken away by the state of Hawaii as they have already sent her a notice of intent to go to auction (on May 8th, 2018) due to unpaid property taxes.  This is causing her deep grief and stress, which is only made worse by dementia.  We want to raise at least $10,000 dollars to pay the back taxes, get the water and electricity turned on and maintained for a few months.

I met Anita at church and though we have many people volunteering their time and money for food, water and basic needs, we are asking for assistance to meet the May 8th deadline.  (Anita is pictured on the left)
