Gabriella’s Fight against Cerebral Palsy

Firstly, I want to thank you for clicking on this link and reading our story. On July 8th, I went to the hospital with what I thought were normal contractions. Not even 20 minutes there and I was rushed into an emergency C-section because my daughter’s heartbeat kept falling. When I awoke I received news that  no mother wants. The umbilical cord wrapped around her and cut off her source to oxygen. Due to her distress she used the bathroom while still in the womb and aspirated on her meconium. By the time she was delivered she was no longer breathing. It took doctors 15 minutes to resuscitate her. All this to say we are extremely grateful to God that she came back to us, but with it came serious complications. Due to the lack of oxygen Gabriella suffered severe brain and central nervous system damage. Doctors believe she will develop cerebral palsy, preventing her from walking, talking, or swallowing. Gabriella will require in-home hospice care to help with oxygen levels and ensure her feeding tube does not come out of place. Her biggest risk factor is her inability to swallow possibly creating a situation where she chokes on her saliva. Needless to say I will have to be extremely vigilant when caring for my newborn. I know it will be a lot of work but I am anxiously waiting for the day I can bring my daughter home and show her the love she deserves. We are asking for any donations to help us during this situation. I need to get accustomed to caring for Gabriella and my oldest daughter Ariella for a while before trying to juggle this with gaining an income.
