American Albergue on the Camino

Every year over 250,000 people emabark on an incredible journey that changes their lives forever. Some walk. Some ride. Some are carried by others.
They come for many different reasons, from all over the globe, but they all share one common goal.
To reach Santiago de Compostela.
If you search the internet you will find an endless number of stories from those who have already made the journey.
Stories of hope. Stories of joy. Stories of grief. Stories of perseverance.
Many start out by themselves. But no one finishes alone. And NO ONE makes it to the end without the help of an amazing group of people called hospitaleros.
These are the people that work in the albergues, or hostels, and they come in many shapes and forms. They provide a place to sleep. They provide hot showers. They provide meals. They provide endless amounts of support to all who enter their doors. And they do it voluntarily.
They do this is because they know the importance of the journey. They understand the impact they have on each and every one of the lives they touch.
After 5 walks of my own, covering nearly 5000 miles by foot, the journey has become part of me and it is now time for me to give back. But I can't do it alone.
My goal is to have an American Albergue on the Camino open by 2021. But I need your help to ensure that future generations of jouneyers have the support they need in the same manner of those that have helped me along.
I am not a non-profit...yet. I am currently working on that. So if you will only donate to a non-profit at this time, because of the tax benefits, then please consider donating to American Pilgrims on the Camino (http://www.americanpilgrims.org/) or the Confraternity of Saint James (http://www.csj.org.uk/). They need your support too!
