On October 24th, my longtime friend, Allison Ross, was found collapsed in her Magnolia home by a neighbor. She had a high fever and was transferred to the hospital, where she was diagnosed with a massive infection on her spine.  It almost cost her life and led to paralysis.

Allison is still in the hospital with very limited movement.  Doctors say she will recover, but it will take more time in the hospital and possibly months in a care facility.

Allison lost her job five months ago and was barely able to maintain her household through savings, unemployment and workers compensation.  Now she really needs your help to pay rent and bills so she doesn't lose her house.

Allison has been a great friend to me for more than 20 years.  Let's band together to help her in this grave time of need. Please consider donating to help Allison through this long ordeal.

I just spoke to Allison and was so excited to have a real conversation with her for the first time since her accident. She returned home yesterday with the help of her mother, Joan, who is making meals and taking good care of her. She is able to walk a few feet with a walker now. Rehab nurses are scheduled to work with her at home to improve her mobility. Allison seems very motivated to improve and not return to the hospital. She is very grateful for everyone's help and is relieved to be able to pay rent tomorrow!

Allison's friend Scott reports that after several weeks of physical therapy, Allison is finally able to walk a few feet with assistance and a walker. She is in good spirits but still has a long road to recovery. She asks that folks send her an e-mail or visit at Swedish Cherry Hill, where she will be for at least the next few additional weeks.

Allison's mother, Joan, reports that Allison has been moved out of intensive care to rehab on another floor. I'm thrilled to see donations top $2,000! A special thanks go to two donors who gave $500 each: Paul Hensel and Selden Prentice.
