Single-Mom With Young Daughter Needs Help
Donation protected
I am raising emergency funds for a single-mom with a daughter. Both mom and child are bonafide asylum seekers. This means they are in the U.S. legally.
As is the case with thousands of asylum seekers across the United States currently, the coronavirus pandemic delayed their immigration proceedings. This means the date (09/2020) of their final hearing before the immigration judge who would have ruled on their case - to say nothing of their fate - was postponed indefinitely due to COVID-19.
Help from compassionate people like you will change the trajectory of their lives because on top of everything else the mom does not have the right to work. Her application for an Employment Authorization Document (EAD), a.k.a. el permiso de trabajo/work permit, has also been delayed.
If she earns money under the table and gets caught, she runs the risk of deportation.
Your contribution ($3, $5, $10 or $25) will help this family buy food and other essentials and pay for housing. Your benevolence will enable them to make ends meets during their time of hardship.
Estimated Costs:
Groceries: $500.00
2-months of rent: $1,400.00
Other essentials (medicine, toiletries and transportation): $500.00
Total: $2,400.00
On December 14, your contribution will be hand-delivered to the family.
If tight finances and/or unemployment prevent you from giving money, consider posting this fundraiser to your Facebook page. Another great way to help is by emailing the fundraiser to anyone who you think would like to join this humanitarian effort.
About Allison:
Currently, she volunteers for the Rocky Mountain Immigrant Advocacy network (RMIAN), where she provides asylum seekers in Colorado Spanish:English languages services for free. She has a soft spot for single-moms because she was raised by one.
