As we all know, weather can be a very dangerous thing. The hazard hazardous ice storm that hit Baltimore on Dec 16th resulted in numerous accidents and fatalities in the city.
The day started like any other day for Alfredo Orellana, a delivery driver for A & O Transportation who services RH. He headed into work like any other day, and he was involved in a trajic accident, which resluted in the loss of his life.
Alfredo was a husband, father, and brother. Alfredo is survived by his Wife Sonja, 2 Daughters Sabrina (10) & Marcela (7) and Brother Roberto (Also drives for RH), as well as his entire staff at A & O Transportation.
David Miller ( Alfredo's leader) had this to say about Alfredo.
""Alfredo was the self proclaimed King of Delivery. Make no mistake if he wasn't the best, I'm not sure what the best would look like. He has been with the Baltimore HDL for 3 years. 2 as a helper 1 as an independent owner/operator. He is the most determined person I've ever met, no job was too big or too difficult. He lived our values to the letter.
People - "We value people with high energy, who possess the ability to energize others"
Alfredo motivated everyone! Each morning he would walk on the dock singing with a big smile on his face, it would be quiet until he arrived. He would get our driver teams fired up and ready to take on the challenges of the day. The words "I can't" or "Impossible" did not exist as long as Fredo was around. He would challenge others to think outside the box and Make It Happen!!
Quality - "From our people and products, to our service and standards,from the way we communicate to our commitment to educate."
All of Alfredo's teams show up on time, his trucks are clean and organized and all of his staff are dressed to the UDE standard. He would take time to train his staff as well as other driver teams on the proper way to handle our product.
Service - "It is everyone's responsibility to remove the obstacles, and provide support so our associates throughout the organization are empowered to Do The Right Thing."
The service Alfredo delivered to our customers inside and outside of the organization is unmatched. He and his team did our entire modern floor reset for all 4 of our galleries. He was a big part of our success. He took time in each location and went above and beyond the expectation of our gallery leaders. We have received many compliments from our clients on Alfredo's service and dedication to get it done the right way.
Innovation - "We strive to build an environment that encourages people to challenge, ask why and why not"
Alfredo was the most innovative of all of our drivers. There was never an obstacle he could not overcome. Whether it was one of his trucks or not, he was always willing to lend a hand. He would always show the team new ways to maneuver our product to deliver them into the tightest spots seamlessly.
Overall our driver teams lost a leader and brother. Our RH team lost an asset and friend. In Baltimore Alfredo was known as the PRIDE of our delivery staff. He will truly be missed. "
Brent Russo ( RH Sr Leader Baltimore HDL) had this to say about Alfredo.
"I wanted to add in over 20 years of working with driver crews, Alfredo was someone special to work with. He always put our clients first, helped his teammates when he saw the need and was even a better person. I cannot tell you how helpful he was with the Design Atelier setups, to the point he worked directly with construction crews and they asked for him back with each of the next stores we did. Amazing! I truly will miss my morning interactions with him."
Alfredo's passion, energy, and leadership will never be replaced. As David said, we have all lost a leader, brother, and friend. Alfredo's family has lost a brother, husband, and father and our hearts go out to them.
This fund is the result of many requests from those that knew or heard about the sudden loss. All the contributions will go to help support Alfredo's family in their crtical time of need.
