Becoming a Transcendental Meditation Teacher

Hello! I am glad you are looking at my campaign. I am Alafair, age 21, originally from Ohio. I’m a TM-Sidha, attending Maharishi University with an individualized degree in Holistic Life, founded on Maharishi Vedic Science.
I will be attending the Transcendental Meditation Teacher Training Course this fall.
It is the clearest step forward on my own path of growth, but more importantly, it will allow me the invaluable opportunity to share Vedic wisdom, and thus contribute to the expansion of world peace and happiness. To teach TM is, as Maharishi says, to “whisper the supreme knowledge of life, which can raise an individual to higher states of consciousness and create progress, peace, harmony, and abundance in our world.”
Two years ago, I was a student at the University of Chicago pursuing a self-directed, interdisciplinary degree centered on the question, “what is the self?” I spent my first college summer living in Hyde Park, working a few jobs and trying to find answers to my biggest questions. I sought these answers in textbooks and paperback novels, visual art and music, philosophies and theologies, people and places, adventure and solitude.
But one sunny day, I spontaneously pulled a book from the hundreds on my shelf—one I’d purchased years prior in a used-books shop. With no concept of what this was or could be, I dove in with open mind and heart.
I learned TM in November 2017, and in the first moment of this new phase of my life, I knew I wanted to share that awakening with others. In the hours, days, and weeks that followed my initiation, I effortlessly quit smoking and drinking; began exercising regularly and eating all healthy, organic, vegan meals; spent more time in nature and less time with technology; created more art, more freely; and finally, began to find some reassuring ideas to settle my many questions.
That winter, acknowledging the transformation that took place, I decided to transfer to MUM. Instantly, I found myself illuminated by the bright light of Vedic knowledge, supported by beautiful connections in this community, and expanded by my meditation practice. I was called to do the TM-Sidhi course, CIC 85, this past winter, and now it is my time to embark on TTC.
As one who has undergone powerful personal transformation through practice of TM, I recognize the sublime influence of this form of meditation. As a student of Maharishi Vedic Science, I have begun to understand intellectually the many aspects of Vedic knowledge and connect them to my own experiences. As a Sidha, I am discovering the subtle values of life and observing their manifestation from a field of pure being. Once a Transcendental Meditation teacher, I will be able to share all of Maharishi’s brilliance with the world, helping to establish heaven on Earth.
The course will be held September 2019 through February 2020, in Thailand. The course fee is $19,500. I’ve committed to teach full-time for Maharishi Foundation after TTC, and will thus receive a scholarship of $6,500. Since the middle of April, I have raised $9,100 through my online campaigns, chai and baked goods sales at the dome, and direct contributions from friends and acquaintances. I now need $3,900 by July 15.
