Thank you for taking the time to read about my sister’s beautiful family and for helping in any way that you can!
As many of you know, Susy and Ron were elated to discover that they would be welcoming a third daughter to their family this summer. Halfway through Susy’s pregnancy her doctors discovered that she had placenta previa. Upon further testing it was suspected to be previa along with a more dangerous and rare condition called placenta accreta; in which the placenta grows and attaches to the uterus.

This condition presented many health-risks to Susy, causing her to need to go on modified activity at 30 weeks. This meant not being able to do her job as a labor and delivery nurse helping other families bring their little ones into this world. Under the advice of their medical team, Ron and Susy were set to deliver the baby via c-section on June 28th at 35 weeks gestation. Sweet Indie was born at 5 lbs. 12 oz. and 19 in. long. However, she needed to head right to the nicu at Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital due to fluid in her lungs. Indie is a fighter and although she is still in the hospital on oxygen our family is hopeful that she’ll be home soon with her two big sisters, Piper and Aila.

Susy’s health, since delivery has been compromised as well. Due to the severity of the accreta, Susy required a hysterectomy mere hours after Indie’s delivery. During this surgery her bladder was injured, requiring a new team of surgeons to repair this damage. After six and a half hours of surgery Susy will need continued medical attention in order to properly heal the wound from where the incision was made. She requires a home-health nurse to come change her bandages and attach a wound vac to her incision site, both painful, time consuming, and expensive.

How Can You Help?
Even with health insurance, the family’s medical debts are going be heavy. Between Indie’s and Susy’s hospital stays, the doctor’s visits, medical devices, and possible future needs; the family will be flooded with medical bills. Ron had planned to take 3 weeks of paternity leave, but with Susy’s condition and Indie in the hospital he will be adding a 4th. Although, needed at home, he will return to work to continue to provide for his family. However, Susy’s return to work is uncertain due to her current condition. Having to take a leave of absence from work early has put a financial strain on their family already, without taking into account the medical finances.
Susy and Ron are hardworking people, who would never ask for help unless they absolutely needed it. Please help us take this burden from them so that they can concentrate on getting healthy and being reunited as a family of five!! We would be incredibly grateful for any and all monetary donations, which will go towards medical expenses and debts. Also, continue to wrap their family in prayer, positivity, love, and light!
