AILIDH'S ZANZIBAR TRIP 2019

I am currently fundraising for a charity trip with my school (Strathaven Academy) and African Adventures to the African Island of Zanzibar in June 2019. African Adventures is a social enterprise which specialises in educational trips and is dedicated to improving lives in Africa. The charity is partnered with community education projects in developing areas of Zanzibar, Ghana and Kenya.
In the October week I am doing a sponsored climb of the Schiehallion Munro, all donations would be greatly appreciated and any donation made will enter you into a raffle draw to win a dinner for two at Blythswood hotel in Glasgow.
The purpose of this trip is, firstly, to contribute towards the development of African Adventure’s partner projects. This includes assisting in classroom activities and leading multi-sports activities in the school, Interacting with the children, and also helping with building and renovation of the school, which needs improved facilities due to overcrowding and more learning spaces for the growing number of pupils.
Part of the requirements of the trip is independent fundraising. As well as the contribution we will make to the Zanzibar school community, the fundraising will also cover the cost of travel and accommodation. This once in a lifetime trip is also an opportunity for me to build character and become more independent, so I am trying to raise all funds by myself. My first fundraising event is a sponsored climb of a Munro and a prize draw. Any donations small or large will be gratefully received.
I am incredibly excited for this challenging trip, the thought of being so far away from home and out of my comfort zone for two weeks is scary, but I am really looking forward to the challenge and the opportunity to make a difference and I would greatly appreciate any help you can give.
