Barrio Puntas located in Rincon, Puerto Rico is no stranger to a shortage of water.  However, after Hurricane Maria hit our beloved island, it demonstrated just how fragile and antiquated our water distribution really is.  Our communities only potable water source comes from Lake Guajataca which is approx. 30 miles to the North. 

On September 20, 2017 Hurricane Maria devastated Puerto Rico along with our only source of clean potable water.  The Army Corp of Engineers says it will be at least 5 years before they can repair Lake Guajataca.  While the repairs are being done, Aquaducto has been extracting the water via pumping stations.  Unfortunately, the pumps being used are not large enough to extract a sufficient amount of water to meet demand, and Barrio Puntas is at the end of the water distribution line.   90% of Rincon receives its water from wells (pozo de aqua)...but, not Puntas.

We are setting up this Go Fund Me account as a means to raise the necessary funds to find a clean, reliable, consistent and permanent source of potable water for all of Puntas.  This will be enjoyed by all of its residents, owners, visitors and businesses alike.  100% of the money raised will go towards this effort with full disclosure and community involvement.  As a first step, we have hired Angel Roman Mas, a hydrologist, to help us better understand the complexities surrounding our venture and determine the best path to move forward.    

About me:  My name is Billy Bonbright.  I moved to Bo. Puntas, Rincon from Washington, DC in 1996.  Since moving here I have owned several businesses, met my lovely wife Tiffany Barry, and are raising 3 beautiful daughters.  Even though we moved away a few years ago, our hearts and passion rest with La Isla del Encanto, Puerto Rico.
