Africa Healthcare Improvement Conference

Medical errors occur at the best hospitals and clinics around the world despite the best intentions from clinical providers. In February 2018, a preventable medical error resulted in brain surgery on the wrong patient at Kenya's National Hospital.

The Institute for Clinical Excellence-Africa  was founded in 2018 by Dr. Chris Wachira to facilitate collaborations and partnerships between leading medical institutions in the United States and their colleagues in Africa. At ICE-Africa we are using technology to teach Improvement Science to clinical teams in Africa.

Our first 6-month cohort activated in Kenya in March 2019. We are working with multiple hospitals and clinics to improve quality, patient safety, and to build improvement capacity in their healthcare systems. We are providing a metrics-driven approach for improving healthcare outcomes and reducing medical errors. 

Your donations will support a 2-day Improvement Science workshop in Nairobi, Kenya in June 2019 where American and Kenyan Quality Improvement colleagues will continue implementation of strategies and best practices for improving clinical outcomes.
