Hello! I am Cathryn Harris, founder of Heart Homes in Rockwall, Texas. We are a registered, non-profit organization providing fully-furnished, homes to natuarl disaster victims in need.
Our current focus is in the East Dallas areas of Sunnyvale, Garland, Rowlett, and Farmersville and Blue Ridge, Texas where an F4 tornado took out many homes.
How it all began: The tornado missed my house by two miles. I went to bed so concerned for my neighbors across the lake, but police were not letting outsiders cross the bridge to help. Then I heard the rain pouring all night long and my heart broke for all the people and their furry family that didn't have shelter from the weather, couldn't see in the dark, were lost from each other, and the few that were mourning the death of loved ones. I got up the next morning eager to help in anyway that I could, when it dawned on me... "I could donate the use of my travel trailer to someone that no longer has a home!". We had purchased the trailer for my husband who works in the oil field. My husband, two children, and I had lived in it ourselves for 6 months while we had another family living in our house. It was surpsingly roomie, very nice, and had ample storage for our necessities. Eager to find someone desperate for a temporary home that we could bless with our trailer, I posted pictures and info of it on facebook. I had NO IDEA what a huge response I would receive. Many people messaged me interested in a trailer because their homes were destroyed by the tornados. It broke my heart that I couldn't help them all! I only had the one trailer to give.
It seems I have found a need that isn't being met. Organizations and churches are collecting donations for food and clothes, but a lot of these people need shelter! A place to store their food, and keep their clothes. So, I created Heart Homes.
Our personal trailer is being delivered to a family on Wednesday, December 30. We are currently working with travel trailer vendors in the area to get gently used trailers at wholesale prices! We also have a lot of other contacts of people with trailers willing to sell their used trailers for just $5k. We can help so many people in a BIG way! Please help!

-Help to reduce looting and vandalization by keeping homeowners in the area, rather than away at hotels
