Should I begin this story with our 7+ year journey of infertility and loss?
Or should I begin it with all the events that have taken place within the past week alone?
Personally, I'd rather skip the painful years, but they are an important piece to this beautiful puzzle that's starting to become clear.
As many of you know, Weston and I have desired to have children for quite some time. We've done our best to maintain the attitude of "It will happen when it happens."
But it hasn't happened, or hasn't lasted much beyond faint pink lines.
Our arms have remained empty, and our hearts longing for the joy of a child of our own.
June 11th we were contacted by a dear friend. His initial message read simply "Want a baby?"
As I write this, it has now been just over a week since we received that message, and our hearts are overflowing with joy and anticipation. Our daughter, Lydia Scarlett, is due to be born on August 19th.
We have the clothes, the crib, the bottles, the car seat. The name.
Everything is ready. Everything except funding for the home study (required by the state), and the rest of the adoption process to follow.
Because of the way this was dropped on us with only 10 weeks (now 8.5 ) until the due date, we didn't have time to "save up" for the costs.
The adoption agency estimates $35,000 for the process, though our costs should be closer to $20,000-$25,000 due to the fact that the birth mother found us without agency involvement.
Please, if you can spare even $5, just knowing that we have your support in this venture to bring our daughter home would mean so much to us.
