Adopting Isaac and Kaylee
I first got custody of my two cousins, then 2 yrs old and 7 months, through DHS as a foster parent. After four months, I was given legal guardianship to get them out of the system. I've had them for 20 months, now. We recently learned that my mother has lung and brain cancer and has very little time left. I want to get the adoption started, so that it eases her mind about what will happen to the children. And I want to secure their future so that they never again have to live surrounded by drug abuse and domestic violence. I have funds for court costs, but need help with the $1000 retainer. I appreciate you taking the time to read our story and any help you can offer, even just sharing our link with others. ❤+ Read More
We're waiting on Isaak's birth certificate to arrive. I didn't get any of his information when I got them from DHS. They had a great Halloween and we'll be heading out to Texas in a few weeks to honor my Mom's wishes of spreading her ashes there. It will be a difficult trip, but they will help keep my spirits up. Thank you again for your support. ❤
Took the kids for wellness checks at the pediatrician today. I had to have forms filled out by their doctor showing they're in good health. One step closer! Thank you to everyone who has donated or added shared. ❤
My mom passed just a few days after my last update. She died peacefully in her sleep, surrounded by family. The birth motheemr, my cousin, was recently sentenced to five years in prison. In exchange for dropping 3 years, she is not to have contact with her children for 10 years. So the hope is that she will sign the adoption petition willingly. I appreciate every donation or share on social media. Thank you so much.
We have started comfort care for my mom. Our goal now is to keep her pain-free so her passing is easier. Isaak is uncomfortable with all of the equipment and hospital bed, but he colors pictures for her. Kaylee isn't bothered and sits on the bed, tucking in her Gammy and patting her on the arm. I want one day for Kaylee to bear part of my mom's name, and to pass on the strength and courage my mom shared with me.
