Support Black Tornado Theater 15/16

Tax deductible
REVISED: This campaign has had virtually zero traffic. We did manage to have every show in the black this year AND a student launched a local funding effort that raised very close to $1000. We DIDN'T get one grant, so our funding needs for the coming year are still a bit murky. To that end, this campaign will remain up and active with a revised goal of $1200 (down from $3200). This is aimed almost entirely at replacing the funds not obtained in the West Family grant application. It will cover one guest artist and one workshop artist.

ORIGINAL POST: This campaign is to help offset operating expenses of our high school theater season: two travel festivals, a musical and three full length plays. This means costume and set costs, performance rights, score rentals, and some staffing beyond the extra duty positions funded by the district. We hope to maintain our ability to offer financial assistance to economically disadvantaged student participants for festivals and workshops, maintain an annual musical, and to provide shared resources alongside other grants that provide for our Guest Artist/Workshop program (providing outside theater professionals a modest honorarium to work on a show here at North).

We are already the recipients of one local foundation grant ($1800, shared with one other school) this year that will fund 90% of one guest artist per school. We are hopeful applicants of one additional local foundation grant (again shared) that will support one additional artist per school. These grants allow us to bring in professionals to work on a particular job (a lighting designer, fight director, or a choreographer, for example), as well as providing some workshop instruction in the theater classes of both schools.

Curriculum support and other materials for our program has been funded via DonorsChoose.org campaigns in the past several years and we will be launching those efforts again, as well, hoping in fact to fund a third guest artist in full via that mechanism.

Our previous GoFundMe campaign, aimed primarily at debt relief, had an initial goal of over $5000. That was reset to $3000 goal and was further lowered to reflect an offline matching gift during the final week, as well as a handful of offline donors. While the online end result was $2160 of $2060, the actual result was: $3215 of $3000. That campaign can be found here:  https://www.gofundme.com/6dcc1c
