Hello!
My name is Brent Cormier. I'm a native of Lousiana, now residing in Austin, Texas. I created this GoFundMe page to solicit donations, on behalf of victims of the great Louisiana flood of 2016. This event has affected many of my personal friends and family members, along with many more that can use our help. My goal is to donate all proceeds to Cajun Relief Foundation, a non-profit organization committed to assisting victims of the flood. Proceeds from this fundraiser will go towards helping families acquire the necessary services and material items needed to repair damage to their homes and to their lives. The Louisiana flood of 2016 washed away more than lives and dreams, but, it will never wash away the resilience of the great people of Acadiana. Steeped in tradition and culture, Cajuns pull together in the face of overwhelming odds and adversity. This tragic natural disaster is no exception.
Although a great effort has been made to help victims of the flood regain stability and to secure the basic essentials of life, these several months later, many families are still struggling for the basic necessities requred for living each day. Many families are still without a home or even adequate living conditions, while many face a daily uphill battle, just to provide food, clothing and other critical items that are necessary for a dignified existence.
Now, that winter has arrived, the problems many are facing are being compounded, once again, by natural forces. The struggle is taking on a new foe, and families are directly in the path of incoming temperatures and weather conditions. Nobody wants to be cold. We can all agree on this.
The good news is this: the struggle thousands of families are still facing today are not totally insurmountable, and these problems can be resolved, for the most part. We just have to take action now!
I created this fundraising drive for 2 purposes:
1. To provide a financial contribution to the victims of the flood.
2 To remind people that this tragedy has not gone away for everyone, and there is still much we can do to help families in need.
I'm asking for each one of you to donate $5.00 or more to this cause. For each donation, I will reward each donor with:
1. GRACE - A Song for Louisiana
Each donor will receive an mp3 Audio File via email that can be downloaded onto multiple audio devices.
2. A personal thank you note from the songwriter. (Me)
3. You will receive the joy of knowing you
helped a total stranger in their time of need, and you did it all for the price of a song! Quite a bargain!
Winter is upon us, and people are in need. Your support is important, and is welcome immediately! I hope you will be generous today.
