Support Laura's Journey to Health

Hi everyone, I’m here to discuss an issue that’s very personal to me.  If you have known me for a long time, then you know that my sister has been dealing with chronic illnesses and trying to manage pain for over 20 years.  She has had digestive and mal-absorption issues for about 20 years, rheumatoid arthritis for 10 years, and vision problems for about 7 years.  Having chronic illnesses and autoimmune disorders means that Laura has to manage pain and navigate digestive issues on a day to day basis while taking strong immune suppressant medications and dealing with the considerably harmful side effects.  

Laura understands that there are no cures for these illnesses.  But Laura is a fighter, and she has never stopped trying to live her life as normal as possible despite its difficulties.  She was able to earn a masters degree and in recent years has maintained full time employment, much of which is physically demanding.  However, she constantly struggles with debilitating symptoms that affect her ability to function on a day to day basis. There are no indications when she might experience a flare up that makes her unable to work, too sick to eat, or not able to move.  With a proactive attitude, Laura has left no stone unturned in her search to get better.  For years Laura has researched western and eastern approaches to dealing with her symptoms and has consulted many specialists throughout her life.  She has taken hundreds of medications, supplements, and exhausted any diet that has been recommended to her. She has tried many treatments whether covered by insurance or not to see if they would help.  All of these efforts have yielded little to no results. This is because conventional medicine does not know what causes her illnesses or the best way to treat them.

I've created this campaign to ask friends, loved ones, and those who wish to help improve the quality of life for a wonderful person, to help fund Laura's stay at the Hansa Center for Optimum Health in Wichita, Kansas.  This is a center specializing in natural medicine and the restoration of health and balance to patients with chronic illnesses and autoimmune disorders.  The money raised would go to all the treatments she would receive as well as food, accommodations, and travel expenses from Philadelphia to Kansas.

If you know anyone with autoimmune disorders or chronic illness the possibility of alleviating even some of the pain is well worth a try. 

As this is not a conventional course of treatment, insurance will not pay for the healing center. However, Laura and her husband, after exhausting every other option, are saving all they can to make this treatment a reality.  As they cannot work while Laura is at the center the cost is especially prohibitive. Their goal is to go to the center as soon as possible.  Laura has not asked me to do this, but with your help, I hope we can make it work. 

Laura has spoken at length to someone who suffered from chronic illness and was treated at the Hansa center with great results.  Now, over a decade since treatment, this individual continues to improve and maintain their health.  This is only anecdotal evidence, rather than cold hard facts, but again, so much of human health and wellness is yet to be understood.
