Fund a Doula
Donation protected
All women deserve wonderful, hopeful and trusted support for their pregnancy, birth and postnatal period.
Many women are not in this position they may live far from family, be on a low income or be struggling with mental health problems.
Im starting up this fund to help pay for doula services in 2019 for women who cannot afford to pay for a doula themselves, I wish I was in a financial position to offer my services for free but unfortunately this isnt the case. The money will be spent on women living in South wales whose due dates are in the next 6 months.
A full simple birth doula package costs around £700, Postnatal and antenatal doula services costs around £20 per hour (this doesnt include travel or preparation time)For the doula this means working for minimum wage. Every single pound counts and even if we dont make the target the money raised will be used.
Evidence shows that with doula support mums are less likely to have a unplanned c section or instrumental birth, they are also less likely to need medical pain relief and more likely to start breastfeeding and keep going past 6 months.
