The Center Harbor Town House Fund

The Center Harbor Heritage Commission, under the umbrella of the Town Selectmen is a volunteer organization dedicated to the preservation and revival of the town's historic buildings and structures.  We are actively involved in the preservation of the old Center Harbor Town House.  We are seeking $10,000. in donations to contract a structural engineer/architect to work with us on a reuse plan for the building.  Our vision is to see this magnificent gem returned to the townspeople of Center Harbor as a meeting room, activity center and a venue for cultural and performing arts.  

This beautiful building was erected by the townspeople in 1844.  Over the years it has been used as a Meeting house, a schoolhouse and a polling place.  It is listed on the New Hampshire State Registry of Historic Buildings #CEN007.

We strive to raise $10,000. to hire a structural engineer/architect to help us realize this vision of preserving and reusing this building.   Issues that will specifically be addressed by the architect include parking, handicap accessibility, composting toilets, heating and electrical concerns as well as water consumption intended for public buildings. These are just a few of the issues that have been identified and will be addressed by an experienced rehabilitation planner. Donations are tax deductible and will be used judiciously to fund the rehabilitation/reuse of the building.  

In honor of the first schoolteacher in the old Center Harbor Town House School, the Beatrice Lovering Honor Roll has been announced.  With no late night study sessions or tests necessary, donations of $100. or greater will be listed on the Honor Roll.
