A New Room for Annabelle

Donation protected
We are a small, boutique interior design firm in Sebastopol, California and we are creating a charitable arm of our company to design rooms for kid's in need who are dealing with health issues and other challenges. We are so thankful and grateful to have the opportunity to do the work that we do and we want to give back.

We would like to introduce you to Annabelle Haley. We are working on designing a new room for this very deserving little girl who will be two in October. She is getting ready to undergo brain surgery at the end of August. She has cortical dysplasia and suffers from seizures.

Our goal is to raise $10,000 and re-do Annabelle's room.  And, while we are donating our time and money, we will need help to transform the space. We will need funds to purchase all furnishings, window coverings, art, accessories and a closet organizer so the space can be both beautiful and functional for this family. Any funds left over will be given directly to the family.

We believe that the spaces that we spend time in matter and it effects how we feel. We want to create the best place for Annabelle to heal from surgery and continue to grow up in. Below is a bit of the story from Annabelle's Mom, Sarah.

“In this picture Annabelle is approximately 2.5 months old. She was our beautiful, perfect, healthy baby. It was shortly after this that we noticed her very subtle seizures. From the time this picture was taken until now Annie has been fighting one hell of a fight.

She's failed 17 different medications and treatments for her seizures. This includes the keto diet, CBD oil and stem cell therapy. From the time she was 2.5 months old she's only had short spurts of being seizure free, but they always seem to come back.

She has a large area on the right side of her brain that is malformed, and she has a very small spot on the left side that is also malformed. The malformation is called cortical dysplasia and it is what is causing her seizures.

Failure after failure and after a lot of false hoping, we have FINALLY been approved for epilepsy surgery. Annabelle will be getting a right side functional hemispherectomy, which is a complete disconnection of the right side of her brain. We're hopeful that this will greatly reduce her seizure load, and any remaining seizures will hopefully be controlled with medication.

It is by far her best chance, so we're taking it. Either we do the surgery, or we do nothing, and we will NEVER do nothing.

Her surgery date is August 29th, and we will do our best to keep you all updated as we go.

Thank you all so much for your continued love and support for Annabelle. It means more to us than we could ever express.

Annabelle's fight will never truly be over, but this surgery will make it a little easier on her”.

We will be chronicling the process as we meet with Annabelle and her mom, Sarah, and will document the transformation of the room. We visited the family on August 21st, took photos and measurements of the room, and we are just beginning the design process.

Please donate and help us reach our goal. We will post our progress with mood boards and Annabelle’s story so you can see it all come together into a new room for a deserving little girl.

Installation Update:

On the Saturday before Thanksgiving, the TBD Design Team installed the room for sweet Annie. We met, grabbed a cup of coffee and headed towards Vallejo amid smoke filled skies. We started with emptying the room of the existing furnishings and getting the closet ready for the new system.

We had a team of five for the day including Lauren and I. While the closet system was being installed by Jake, Dan got to work on installing the new flush mount light fixture. Then we started putting together the two bookcases and the crib with Dan, well mostly Dan but Lauren helped a bit too! Once the closet and furniture was all assembled it was time to layer and put it all together. And here is the end result…

Thank you so very much to all who donated to this wonderful family! We were able to completely furnish and install this project and come under budget. Which meant that we were able to give the family a substantial check at the end!

Thank you for giving!
