A Kindness for the Sirois Family

The last year or so has been very difficult for us. I had been out of work for a long time, and then finally started working as a server which helped a little. Unfortunately, that was short-lived.
The weekend after Thanksgiving, the restaurant closed. I was called to come in and get my check, as that was the last day the doors would be open. That was the only notice I got. I was paid with a personal check (which bounced), and I was also unpaid for my last week of work. I reached out to my former employer multiple times, and have still not gotten a response.
I applied for unemployment; but I was rejected because I didn't qualify due to the short amount of time I worked, though it was no fault of my own.
Luckily, I was able to at least get a tax refund and live off of that while searching for a new job. The refund ran out quickly, and the search is still ongoing.
Throughout all of this; I have had some support from family and friends, but none from my son's father, who I have asked multiple times and was promised assistance. My pride caused me to reject other offers of help, hoping that things would change. That was foolish of me. Now, I have no way to provide for my son currently.
I am still making the effort to gain employment, but it is difficult to say when that will happen. When the school year ends, our family will need to go care for a dear family friend who is seriously ill. We are hoping that we don't need to make an emergency trip sooner than that.
So friends, that's what has been going on with me and J. He doesn't know the full scope of our situation, but he does know that things aren't the way they should be, and that I'm unhappy.
The biggest issues have been medical bills for both of us and utilities. I have been without vision correction since January, and that is the biggest need. It has affected my ability to properly function.
If you are able to help in any way, we would be forever grateful. We just need to stay afloat til August.
