A home, for my best friend and her daughter.

UPDATE: "Mandy" has decided that it is ok, for me to share a photo of her, and her daughter.  Both mean the World to me, are are great need.

PLEASE HELP.

I don’t really know how to start this, as I've never asked for monetary help before; so, I’m searching my soul for the appropriate words; words of humility, with sincerity, to convey the urgency of this need. Words, that I hope will compel you, my friends, to commit an act of generosity and kindness.

I am asking for help, on behalf of my BEST friend. She has asked to remain anonymous, so I shall respect her wishes. Pride can be a good thing, or a crippling condition, so I choose to ask on her behalf. Plus, in the past, she tried a GoFundMe, and the utter lack of response has left her wary, and doubtful of its success, but I have enough faith for the both of us.

I believe in the power of humanity, in the kindness of strangers, and that our true needs can be met, if we simply help each other. I myself am “surviving” on Disability, and yet I find myself donating to others, all the time.  I selflessly give, knowing how quickly fortunes can change, and I hope now, in her time of need, this compassion will be reciprocated.

Hopefully, once we succeed, she will allow me to reveal more of who she is, and trust me, she’s an amazing Woman. But, why trust me, when I can tell you about her? So, I will…

This woman is truly one of the best people I know. She has a kind heart, is supportive, and nurturing. She is nonjudgmental, patient, and often puts others, before herself. She is always ready to listen, and to offer advice, when asked. She would suffer in silence, before burdening another with her problems.

She is artistically gifted, yet has never really been able to fully explore her abilities. She has a wonderful, yet twisted, sense of humor, and her laugh is just as infectious. She loves animals, and has a deep affection for cats. She’s a GREAT mother, and will do anything for her daughter. She is one of the most honest people I know, and is a true, loyal friend.

“Mandy” is a survivor, a fighter, and one bad ass chick! She suffers from the chronic illnesses, Systemic Lupus, and Raynaud’s phenomenon. Separately, they can cause pain and discomfort, but in combination, they are downright debilitating. The Lupus has attacked her organs, and she has dealt with fluid build up, on her lungs and heart. The Raynaud’s phenomenon restricts blood flow to her extremities, and causes paresthesia (pins and needles/ tingling).

When we met, I discovered that she too had almost died from her illnesses. The Lupus almost killed her; it drastically altered her life, and has taken away her ability to work. As anyone with a chronic illness can attest, the constant "management" of your symptoms, is exhausting, and each day is a struggle, with its own unique challenges.

She must also deal with rheumatoid arthritis, insomnia, edema, severe depression, and chronic fatigue. Some days, she can barely open her hands, and requires time to rest, after any strenuous activity. She also deals with anemia, and Thrombocytopenia, resulting in low platelets, and clotting issues.

And yet, through all this, she is currently trying to function in a VERY toxic living situation. She and her partner of 8 years have decided to separate, yet due to financial circumstances, they must still live in the same house. This is emotionally draining, and the stress is greatly affecting her health.

To make matters worse, they are several months behind on their rent, AND she is raising their 7 year old daughter, without any financial support. Currently, facing the threat of impending eviction, she has no where to turn for help. She is literally living on borrowed time, and winter is coming. She doesn’t have family, with the ability to help her.

She is currently on Disability, and cannot afford to move out...she needs the first and last month's rent, in order to get her own place; a stable place, for her and her little girl. Her mother may possibly also live with them, as she has recently had a hip replacement, and it is uncertain what her future health situation will be.

Let me make it clear, she is NOT lazy. She maintains the essentials, cooking, cleaning, and raising her daughter, but she is greatly fatigued and depressed by both her illnesses, and her living situation. Her health, mentally, physically, and emotionally, is being deeply affected, and the stress is causing her to experience flares of her illnesses.

As I mentioned, she has a young daughter, and the uncertainty of their current living situation, and witnessing these effects on her mother’s health, is starting to cause issues for the child; issues that affect her ability to focus and concentrate in school. So, if you choose to help, you'd be giving them BOTH a new start at happiness, and you'd be doing ME a huge favor.

We're trying to raise $1,500. This will cover the required rent, and allow this wonderful woman, to rest her body, ease her mind, and heal her heart. She will have a stable environment, where she can begin to improve her life and begin to get her financial situation in order. Anything more, will go towards buying a new bed, and other household necessities. Hers is old, and greatly worn. It affects her sleep, and ability to properly rest.

It kills me, to see her in this situation, one she cannot control, and one which I alone cannot resolve. I just pray that I have built up enough “good karma”, to benefit my friend, in her time of greatest need.

She truly is the one person I wish I had met earlier in life, as her friendship has profoundly changed me for the better. Her love for me has gotten me through some rough times, and her constant reassurance, lifts my confidence to new levels. I adore this woman, and I’m a better man, for knowing her.

Now, I've seen other GoFundMe accounts raise huge amounts of money, and while $1,500 is no small amount, it IS doable. With your help, two lives will be greatly changed, and a good woman can provide a stable home, for her daughter.

For once, you’ll know your donation will go to an actual individual, and you can personally change someone’s life, for the better. I just pray that I have built up enough “good karma”, to benefit my friend, in her time of greatest need. She deserves it.

SO PLEASE HELP.

I appreciate you all, my friends and family, from the bottom of my heart.  I try my best to help others, whether that be through donations, time, or just random acts of kindness. Those who know me know how passionately I love others. I’m a good judge of character, and she is definitely a WORTHY individual, who is just having a rough time right now.

Trust me, when I tell you, I’d do anything to help her, and so I’m humbly asking you, for your help, during her time of crisis. I’m not too proud to beg, if I have too. Her friendship is priceless, her support life altering, and her love, one of my most prized gifts.

So, if you have a best friend you’d do anything for, a chronic illness, or had your heart broken, and struggled to afford your basic needs, then you can totally relate.

She's facing possible eviction, at any moment, with a 7 year old daughter.

PLEASE DONATE, ANY AMOUNT WILL HELP.
