WHAT
This fundraising campaign is designed to raise funds to financially support the candidacy of Alhaji Dr. Kandeh K. Yumkella, former Director-General of United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO); Special Representative of UN Secretary General and Chief Executive Officer for Sustainable Energy For All (SE4ALL), as the next President of the Republic of Sierra Leone in 2017/18.
WHY
Sierra Leone is at a crossroad and a new direction is needed for a brighter future for the country. As the constitution of Sierra Leone stipulates - “No person shall hold office as President for more than two terms of five years each, whether or not the terms are consecutive” (section 46 (1) – 1991 Sierra Leone Constitution). The lingering effects of a ten-year civil war, recent Ebola virus disease epidemic, and the ongoing lackluster governance of the incumbent government, have led to a failed economy which poses threats to the well-being of average Sierra Leoneans.
WHO
Alhaji Dr. Kandeh Yumkella is a true patriot of Sierra Leone, endowed with the right kind of leadership skills and professional experience that are required to lead Sierra Leone into economic prosperity. He is deemed by most Sierra Leoneans as one of the most competent, credible and trustworthy citizen to emerge on the national political scene in our generation.
