Greetings from Yosh Yamanaka,
I’m a Long Beach resident, life-long Progressive, and an ardent supporter of Bernie Sanders. I have the honor of having been elected by the Bernie caucus as one of three delegates to represent CD47 (Long Beach) at the Democratic National Convention.
Why I Need Your Help:
Bernie’s campaign asks each of his delegates to pay their own expenses to and from Philadelphia and during the Convention. My fellow delegates and I will be representing Bernie, you, and other Progressives to shape a platform that will achieve Progressive aims and continue the momentum that Bernie’s campaign and our efforts have generated.
I have the interest, the time, and the energy needed for the task, but I could use some help with the funding. Your donation – in any amount – will be greatly appreciated. (See details below final image.)
My Qualifications:
I have spent dozens of hours in voter registration at Cal State Long Beach (very fertile ground for potential Bernie supporters), canvassing neighborhoods, phone banking, and attending Bernie rallies. I’ve met many times with the Long Beach Area Boomers and Seniors and have helped stage events with other volunteers. And of course, I’ve donated dozens of time to Bernie’s fund raisers over the course of the past year. I strongly feel that Bernie is our best choice for weakening the influence of Wall Street, Big Oil, and other moneyed interests on our political system. A demonstration of the success of our efforts is California’s adoption of the Resolution to Advance a More Democratic Presidential Nominating Procedure and Party Structure. We can continue to accomplish such progressive goals when we act together to change the status quo.
My History as a Progressive:
Why am I such an ardent supporter of Bernie Sanders? I have been involved in progressive politics since marching on the Pentagon numerous times during the Vietnam War. In 1968, I was a field organizer for Senator Eugene McCarthy’s presidential campaign and we succeeded in getting Lyndon Johnson to announce that he would not run for another presidential term.
I have served on numerous non-profit boards such as KPFK’s Local Station Board, the Pacifica National Foundation, L.A. Friends of Tibet, and the Alliance to Preserve the History of WW2 (Los Angeles chapter). I will continue my efforts for a more democratic and progressive America through my work as a California delegate to the Democratic National Convention.

Airfare LGB to Philadelphia, roundtrip: $1100
Hotel room for five nights: $1650
Food and incidentals: $500
Total est. costs to represent Progressives at the DNC: $3,250
