My name is Xavier and I attend the University of the District of Columbia (UDC). I'm a senior. For one school year I have been taking six classes per semester while working full-time. Since I have been fast tracking my degree in Mass Media TV/Production I’m only two semesters away from graduation.
As a student at UDC I have been introduced to screenwriting, filmmaking, journalism and more. I am using my degree to create more opportunities for women and people of color in this industry. I plan on doing this by writing scripts that show how dynamic we are as women and people of color. We are more than what is being portrayed in films and television. We deserve leading roles, directing and producing opportunities. Once I complete school in December 2015 I can begin the journey to creating more scripts and working with other creative minds.
