Very good news! We won are lawsuit against Roseburg Forest Products on the slapp suit which was meant to shut us up. It didn't now on and upward.
Well the game is on for the Weed 9, members
of Water for Citizens of Weed, CA.
Roseburg Forest Products has sued us.
Each of the members have received a 300
plus page summons to court in October.
We have to respond and pay a $435.00
fee each within 45 days. We have a great
attorney whose costs are covered but we
must pay all the extra fees out of the
funds we can raise or out of our pockets

We are being forced to find an alternative water supply to the northern half of our city, due to legal intimidation spawned by corporate greed
Who are we?
We are a grass roots committee of concerned citizens trying to fight for our water and defend our legal interests with existing water rights we beleive we have had for 107 years.
The gauntlet has been thrown:
WEED, Calif. – Roseburg Forest Products today (May 12) filed a lawsuit in Siskiyou County Superior Court stating that the court alone – and no other entity – has jurisdiction to reaffirm the company’s longstanding rights to the water it has been supplying the City of Weed since acquiring the former International Paper property in 1983, according to Roseburg officials.
The company filed the suit in response to Thursday’s vote by the Weed City Council to request that a determination about who owns the rights to the Beaughan Spring water leased to the city be made by either the Scott Valley and Shasta Valley Watermaster District or the State Water Resources Control Board. Roseburg’s suit alleges that neither entity has the authority to rule on the pre-1914 adjudicated water rights at issue in this action, an area that is the domain of the courthouse
What is our goal?
We are committed to preserving the water resources upon which our community has always depended on for 107 years . We need your support for our outreach efforts, research activities and specialists who are advising us on our options. If no other solution can be found, we will proceed with litigation in order to clarify and restore our community's water.
The citizens of Weed have enjoyed the use of the gravity fed, natural spring water from Beaughan Springs for one hundred and seven (107) years. The springs are fed by the glaciers of Mt. Shasta.
Roseburg Forest Products are now charging $97,500 per year ~for water the city has had for free for 107 years. They have given us a limited time to find and alternative source of water.
